Hello, Trello

There seems to be a love/hate relationship with organization. That is, some people love it, and some people hate it. For me, growing up with a mother who is middle school assistant principal, organization was installed in me at a young age. And, let me just say, I am forever grateful. I thrive on lists, color-coordination, and planning.

Yet, in a business setting, especially when everyone is working remotely, it may seem impossible to stay on the same page with the rest of the team.

Enter Trello.

Trello. The beautiful, online to-do list that can be shared across different platforms for that anyone, anywhere can take a glance and know what has to be done for the week. During my first week at AuraLab, our marketing strategic planner Angela Peat set our team up with a couple of boards, and we have been rolling ever since.

Our first Trello board is our "Intern Sprint Planning." During a team meeting on Monday, we each list everything were going to get done in the upcoming week, complete with due dates, color coordination, and a point-system. This helps us stay on track during the week and, with the points, makes sure we don't overload the week.

Our second board is our "Team Retro." During a week wrap-up meeting on Friday's we go through everything we had on our first board, checking off what we completed, finding out our trouble stops, and tallying the points for the week.

Between Robert, Aric, Angela, and I, the AuraLab schedule could become a nightmare. Yet, because we have our public boards, communication is stronger than ever, and I feel confident taking this skill to whatever job I go to in the future.

"Good communication is just as stimulating as black coffee, and just as hard to sleep after."
